I do not give up easily

Cholakov V.com is my personal web space where I present my work. The site is just like me - a constantly mutating cosmos, never final and always in transition.

I love coding websites (I am very dexterous with HTML, PHP and JavaScript) and yet my real might is filmmaking (visual effects, 3D and writing). I never go anywhere without a camera, camcorder and a journal. I love racking my brain with matters as diverse as world politics, human behavior and technology innovations. No matter the subject, I always insist on two principles - profound research and personal voice. In my free time I enjoy doing a lot of sport (court tennis, jogging, volleyball, swimming, dancing).

I was born 19 years ago in the coastal city of Burgas, Bulgaria. This year I graduated from one of the highly esteemed and my all-time favourite high school in Bulgaria – Mathematics and Natural Sciences High School “Nikola Obreshkov”. For the seven during which I grew there I found an unusual yet fruitful balance in between exact science, art and sport - a symbiosis of the logical mathematical thought, the vast freedom of cinema and the speed in a tennis forehand strike :)

This September I am heading to the United States to continue my education at the great Northwestern University’s School of Communication. To a certain extent I still perceive this university as one of those dream places with whom my closest contact could be Discovery Channel – an extremely powerful academic institution topping the world ranking lists, offering one of the elite film and television programs in the US and cultivating probably the best journalistic department in America.

How have I come here and during which of the many long sleepless nights I proved that impossible is nothing – I do not know. What I do know for sure is what day everything started for me - it was a few years ago when I felt fluent enough to communicate in English. Ever since I have been yearningly following world's events and trying to understand the many different ideas and beliefs hovering around the world. I can communicate quite fluently in German and understand quite well French too. For the last few years at high school I actively participated at a Rotary youth service club Interact club Bourgas-Primorie for which I was elected a 2010/11 Board President. This has also greatly molded my way of thinking and helped me more efficiently manage my time and organize big groups of people. Which of the many small stones made the big difference - I do not know. I tirelessly keep walking, believing that the only limitation of the human being are the frontiers of our imagination.
